Split from partner has led to accusations from him which are not true: what can I do?

I have recently split from my partner and since he has been saying stuff about me (such as that I used to beat him up) that is not true. Due to this I have been banned from attending a class at my local gym. What can I do to stop him from ruining my life with his lies?

Unfortunately when relationships break down quite often situations such as the one you describe occur.  Usually with the passage of time these resolve, however if the situation continues over a prolonged period of time and you fee intimidated or harassed then you may consider seeking legal advice with regard to a non-molestation order.  However it cannot be stressed enough that the Court will only entertain such an action in serious circumstances to secure your health, safety and well being.
