EU nationals filing for divorce in the UK to take advantage of the UK's "female friendly" divorce laws...

I am a European national and am told that the UK courts treat women particularly favourably. Under what circumstances can I file for divorce In the UK from within the European Union?

If you or your husband/wife live or have lived or are domiciled in any EU member state other than Denmark then under Brussels II it may be possible to commence proceedings in the United Kingdom.

If you believe you may be able to commence from within the EU it is important to seek advice from a suitably qualified foreign lawyer to determine in your circumstances, if you have a choice of jurisdictions in which to commence proceedings, which would serve your interests best.

The UK is currently regarded as particularly friendly to women seeking divorces.
